Sports stars have made their way into movies for decades, and now it looks like we might see another athlete in a film, thanks to a fun bet between Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry and actor Adam Sandler.
Henry, a big fan of Sandler’s movies, joined “The Dan Patrick Show” and accepted a challenge: if he rushes for 2,000 yards in the 2025 NFL season, he would land a role in a film alongside Sandler.
The bet was made official, and Patrick reached out to his friend Adam Sandler. In response, the actor sent a personal video to Henry, congratulating him and adding a bit of motivation.

Sandler, known for films like Uncut Gems and Happy Gilmore, sent a humorous message to Henry. In the video, he said:
“Yo, Derrick, I just woke up. You know that, that’s why I look disgusting, on top of the fact that I am disgusting, but I love ya. Congrats on everything, baby.
2,000-plus (yards) this year not only gets you in a movie, but we’ll have a nice dinner together and talk about Dan Patrick’s facial hair and how hard it is for him to grow it. I love ya and keep it up.”
Henry responded to Sandler’s message on social media, saying, “Dan you’re a real one! Adam Sandler is da (GOAT)!! I appreciate the extra motivation!”
Derrick Henry’s Career and the 2,000-Yard Milestone
Derrick Henry has already achieved the 2,000-yard milestone once in his career. In 2020, he rushed for 2,027 yards while playing for the Tennessee Titans.
Last season, he came very close to repeating the feat, finishing with 1,921 yards, just 79 yards shy of 2,000. If Henry does hit 2,000 yards in 2025, he will be the first running back to ever do it twice.

“I love football. I love playing,” he continued. “I know people look at the age, but I don’t really try to focus on that. I just focus on: how can Derrick Henry be better? How can Derrick Henry help the Ravens get to where they want to get to?”
With his career already filled with amazing accomplishments, Derrick Henry could be on the verge of an even bigger achievement if he hits the 2,000 rushing yards mark in 2025. If he does, we might just see the NFL star on the big screen alongside Adam Sandler.
